I can't figure out why there is an apostrophe in the boat lettering. Instead of J and J, it looks like taint.

Apostrophes are often misused. The most common mistake is putting them in plurals. It's a pet peeve of mine but I almost used one here. Grammarly saved me from looking stupid.

Artists make mistakes, but it gets worse with gravestone engravers. I have seen some of those corrected, but usually, the company makes the buyer fill out the form, sign it, and the mistake goes on.
