Dear All,

Recently overhauled Alkin W32

This has had new valves and rings in all stages.

After recommissioning ran for about an hour then the 8 bar safety valve at the end of the intercooler from the first stage (ie beforethe second stage inlet) started operating.

Changed valve, same problem
Spoke to Alkin theys said dirty valve. Don't have tool for the inlet but blew air through easily from low pressure system. Stripped outlet valve, small about of gasket debris which could have, in theory, been jamming the outlet valve. Ran ok for 30 mins then same problem. Ran with outlet disconnected no problem but then again there is no back pressure.

Only thing I have not done is the inlet valve which I will need to fashion a tool for, before I do that are there any suggestions please?

Dear All,

Just to kick off and to help me.

1. Have you had the compressor since new?
2. How many hours had it done before you changed valves and rings all stages
3. On the valves did you change both the inlet valves and the discharge valves
4. What was the cost of the individual parts. on all 3 stages

1. Have you had the compressor since new?...... Yes
2. How many hours had it done before you changed valves and rings all stages ......about 1200
3. On the valves did you change both the inlet valves and the discharge valves. The valves came in sets ready built into the heads from Alkin direct
4. What was the cost of the individual parts. on all 3 stages......Unsure of the relevance and why you need a breakdown of costs of parts?

Was it working ok before you done the service ?
Can you post some photos of 2nd and 3rd heads fitted to unit
have you tested the safety valve ?
Are you sure that you have not fitted a head 180deg wrong

1. Yes and apart from a couple of teething problems it worked afterwards. It has run for about 2 hours. Filling an empty 10l to around 210 bar in 9 mins.
2, I have changed the safety valve
3. Yes I am sure

Will do photos tomo

Questions 1 to 3 were to get a quick overall idea of what we are dealing with.

Question 4 Was to see what exactly what parts you were supplied with as parts.

The price you paid would tell us if you were supplied full, partial or reworked parts

No matter to me if you dont answer.

First thing now to do is
strip and check 2nd and 3rd valves
do you have a unloader system fitted?
If its the type that has multi pistons in one housing
then also strip and check.

Did some photos but will have to upload later. I am convinced these are correct. I even put the old ones back on same problem. After completing the overall it ran and filled cylinders for around 2 hours. By unloader it has 2 +1 condensate dumps. These have been done.

Is it possible there is some bleed back from the higher pressure dumps?
