So it sounds like the SLAPP protections don't work at all. At least the protections in Florida, anyway. That guy had tens of thousands in legal bills and the nightmare didn't end until he got the incident publicized on TV. That's a shame.

He can counter sue under the law in Florida. In California (I think) if the court decides you've placed a SLAPP suit, then the judgement is immediate and they owe YOU money and will pay your legal bills as well.. I've seen this in the States. Especially where they don't have a liquor license to sell wine/liquor. You bring your own but you pay them to uncork it. It's just understood as their policy and you roll with it - or drink prior to or after your dinner. No big deal.
