Well the wife and I are now set on Roatan for Christmas. We'll reserve the Key Deluxe at AKR if possible or Turquoise Bay if it survived...this week. Any news on the latest? I've read online that RTB will require a 72 hour pre-arrival rapid test confirmation correct? That's easy for the wife and I here in Houston.

Any other news on the island? Seems Turquoise Bay has the better cancellation policy if our son is able to have contact with us during A school in the US Navy.

Thanks

Actually just saw a Spanish language post on Instagram that they will be open the 25th of September...pray for a vaccine to be released as well in October! There is LIGHT

From COVID-19 | The Beach House Boutique Hotel Roatán

"you need to have results of a PCR test taken within 72 hours of the flight (you CAN use a rapid test that meets the requirements of 85% specificity and 98% sensitivity, but you’ll have to quarantine for 14 days); obviously in any case the test must be negative"

But they also said

"if you arrive with a rapid test (as opposed to a PCR test), you are required to self-quarantine; practically speaking no one will have any idea whether you arrived with a PCR test, a rapid test, or via the mainland, in which case no test is required"

But i could not find that 14 day requirement in the document linked under "the requirements".

Contact AKR and see if they have more info and please share.

We just got back from a week at AKR . we were the first group back at the resort.
We had to get a Covid test 72 hrs prior to landing on Roatan and we all had rapid tests. No one mentioned any Quarentine
nor did we have to.
The Resort went out of their way to make us feel safe by constantly cleaning and disinfecting . The staff wore masks constantly even on the dive boats. The only issue we had was American left some of our bags in Mia and it took 4 days to get the last one!
All in it is was a great trip with awesome diving!! well worth the hassle

What would you estimate the occupancy rate? Were the dining room and bars operating the same?

Hello,
There were 9 of us and 1 other couple so 11 people total. they said this week they had 4 coming.
very unique it was like we had a private resort. the owner did said booking were fairly strong around thanksgiving.
The bars were open normally and the restaurants served sit down dinners with several choices. no buffets.

Wow, they have to be losing money with so few people but guess you gotta start somewhere. I only remember one restaurant and it was always table served except for some rolls and cereal out for breakfast.

Did you go into Wedt End?

How did you satisfy the 72 hour rapid test requirements?
Our C19 tests for a Juliet trip to the Bahamas this July took @12 to get results ,that we needed in 7 to 10
