....and how do you know that any of these insurance plans, including DAN, remain solvent. In my opinion @NDL_Diver is right. Figure out the total cost to do this on your own, if everything goes wrong, and then make your decision on that basis.

For me personally it's a complicated equation. As long as there is a significant probability of "everything going wrong", then whether or not insurance would cover it is of lesser concern to me.

Well if you read the whole document on page 13 and 14:
"Expenses Not Covered by Emergency Medical Transportation and Travel Assistance Benefits

1. No benefits are payable under DAN TravelAssist with respect to expenses incurred"

:...

"c) for services, supplies, treatment or transport related to a pandemic, epidemic, or exposure to a contagious infectious disease;"
I just want to avoid misinformation so common on the internet today. The words pandemic and epidemic are not found on this: https://www.danap.org/_pdf/travelassist.pdf
or this: https://www.diversalertnetwork.org/files/handbook.pdf

So kindly link your source.

I haven't been keeping up on this, but don't some countries have a two-week quarantine when you get there? If they "open" Cozumel does that mean no mandatory quarantine?
No tourists will go.

I've seen countless stories of businesses taking temperature checks of customers. What I haven't seen are any stories about how that is going in practice. How many are being denied entry or passage? What is the reaction? I'll be surprised if denying entry or passage based on a fever check is going to go over well with the people. For one thing, probably 99% of all fevers have nothing to do with Covid-19. People aren't going to be happy to have their day if not week or month turned upside down when they feel like they are fine. I think many people will figure why chance a hassle and will take fever-reducing drugs before going to the airport.

True, their is a chance you will pay the ultimate cost, your life.

I have been and stayed in an island hospital (not for DCS) on Bonaire with 5 fractured ribs. You would not want care from there for anything life threatening. Their SOP is to medical evac you to Columbia or Aruba for anything serious. I was told you want to go to Columbia if given the choice. They maybe have 3 ventilators in ER. The regular hospital rooms are like staying at a motel 6 with a stranger (2 to room). No heart, Blood Pressue, or O2 monitoring. Just a call button.
