I've got a Suunto Zoop watch and its battery is going. Which battery would be best to change it with?

The same kind that's in there already? It's a 2450 button cell battery. You can buy the whole kit, which comes with a new retainer and o-ring, for about $30 at various dive shops and online and do it yourself. Or, you can risk not replacing the o-ring and just replace the battery for about $5. If you go the cheaper route, make sure you take a good look at the o-ring that you aren't replacing and make sure it is in good condition and then be very careful about how you put it back in. You don't want to blow it flooding a $300 computer because you saved $25.

Many thanks for the reply. Any thoughts on the brand of battery? Sony vs Panasonic?

Make sure that you get a 2450 and not a 2450N. They are shaped differently. Brand is irrelevant. When you open the back, be careful with the retainer. It can easily fall out.

We disagree with Tridacna. The brand is very relevant, insofar as performance is concerned. Sony or Panasonic (if you can get the ones made in Japan) are probably your best quality option. Renata (Swiss-made) and Maxell (Japan made) would be my second choice, followed by Varta (german made). The next echelon would be Indonesian made Panasonic and or Sony. By all means, stay away from Chinese batteries even the "relatively" well known in the US "EVE" brand. The latter last half as much as a Japanese made Sony or Panasonic. At Divewatchdoctor we got tired of servicing all models of Suunto dive computers that had gone out of battery in just a matter of months. When opened, those dive computers had two things in common: a depleted Chinese made EVE battery, and the last service had been performed by the same Suunto Service Center.

If you order the kit online make sure that you order correct model. Old model Suunto Zoop computer (3 button) vs newer Suunto Zoop Novo (4 button). Same battery but different o-rings.
