Can anyone clear up the permit status on the PST tanks with
TC-SC4349 marking on them?
I had heard PSI had taken over and applied for a renewal but can only find confirmation for those marked TC-SC 9294.

PST 9791 tanks never(?) had TC approval.
Although it appears that at least a few got some sort of TC exemption if they are marked that way. Must be super rare which does not bode well for the OP

I can say with certainty that TC tanks without DOT credentials cannot be legally filled or hydro'd in US. They must have a DOT credential (3AA, 3AL, E#, or SP#).

Good thing OPs profile says he is in canada

There are no TC scuba tanks that dont have DOT stamps. They are most of the time dual stamped or are more rarely DOT only. A function of Canadian tank manufactures (basically = Worthington) wanting access to the much larger US market.

we just had 2 tanks come through our shop 2 months ago that only had TC markings and no DOT. Surprised us too, as it was the first time anyone in our shop had ever seen such a thing,

TC predates DOT, it was around back when US SCUBA tanks were stamped ICC.

Because DOT and TC SCUBA tank specifications are comparable new tanks are stamped with both, so you see these. Because tanks without DOT or ICC markings cannot be filled here, the TC only tanks are not likely to find their way here since they are basically paperweights in the US.

Probably a diver brought the tank down not knowing it couldn't be used here. Most divers pay no attention to tank markings.

Worthington Canada was only founded in 1988. Who would have made a TC (only) cylinder in the 1950s when we were stamping ICC numbers?
