If you wish to use your GPS, the address for the condo at the end of Alhambra Road is 633 Alhambra Road, Venice, FL 34285.

Where to park: Park on the street as close to the dead end as possible and without blocking access to the beach from the road. Be careful not to block the driveway to the condo or to the homes along the street. Please note, when parking, park along the street in the direction of travel for the side you park. Failure to do so may and could result in a ticket.

Amenities Florida West dive shop is about 1 mile north of the site on 41 literally just over the bridge back onto the mainland. Sharkey's restaurant is at the base of the pier. Venice Beach's downtown district is 1/2 mile off with food and shops as well. Public bathrooms are about a 10 min. walk down the beach.

Give us a shout out if you can make it.
Hope to see everyone there!

Good way to start the season. Hope the water warms.

So looking forward to a beach bash. Tentative other plans that day. Decisions....

Apparently to pull any fossils other than shark teeth you need a $5 fossil permit.

Since when? Haven't heard of needing a permit before...

The permit appears to be for fossiling on land. I will continue to research and call to get a clear answer.

As I understand it, the stae of Florida owns the land 9 miles into the gulf.
So a permit is required for diving for anything other than sharks teeth.
It would be a real bummer to find a mammoth tooth and have FWC stop you and not have a permit.
This is possible:
Any person who, in violation of this section, engages in any of the activities described in subsection (1) without first having obtained a permit to engage in such activity commits a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine not to exceed $500 or by imprisonment in the county jail for a period not to exceed 6 months, or both; and, in addition, he or she shall forfeit to the state all specimens, objects, and materials collected and excavated in violation of this section, together with all photographs and records relating to such materials.

Also remember that you need a dive flag.
I have seen it enforced, with a ticket issued.
