As cute as the ISE lashings are... I dont have the energy for that. I use custom baby blue duct tape with little puppies on it. Just an alternative to the ultracommon varieties.
 
kevlar degrades nearly instantly in water and is incredibly hydrophilic. If you use it in the salty stuff, the salt crystals will actually be absorbed into the fiber itself and abrade it from the inside. It's about the worst fiber out there to take underwater.

I don't recommend breathable suits. They use an air permeable membrane similar to Goretex. It is a quite delicate membrane in comparison to other designs which is why the suits don't last as long and are prone to pin-hole leaks where the creases naturally form in bag suits. I'm not convinced they actually do anything meaningful either.
