But I'd say enjoy the dive too. Don't waste it on a buddy who fails to understand you.
When I see something interesting I ask for attention from my buddies and tell them to "look" and then point out what I found interesting. Then we just continue with our dive without any further discussion or determination of the animal/plant/object. Back on the surface after the dive we can discuss what we saw.

It's simpler and less complete than Scubasigns by Van Stijn and Harterink that in Italy is very expensive and must be imported from the UK for about 35£
I like it, clear and simple, and it's only 8 euros including shipping on Amazon
