This is welcome news. In addition to removing an eyesore perhaps the additional rooms will lower the high cost of vacationing on the Brac.

Sure looks better than when I visited Brac in 2017.

If it were full of divers, could CBBR and Scuba Shack handle the load?

Probably not. Adding another 40-60 divers to the mix would really stress the system. Scuba Shack has a second boat that they sometimes use, so that would be another 10-12 slots available. CBBR moves boats between Little Cayman and the Brac depending on greater need, so maybe another 20 slots available. Then there is the whole “need another 100 tanks issue “...

If the increased business was there, I'm sure that one of the two dive ops would find a way to capitalize on the opportunity.

True, but I would think there would have to be a long term trend before anyone spends the money needed to accommodate another 20 or 30 divers. Still as has been noted, it would be a boon to the island economy and just might lower the cost a bit. Win win as they say.

Is there any history from the previous iteration of the Alexander (2009-14) about how many additional divers they brought to the island?

My vague recollection is that it was mostly Cayman Airways employees and government people staying there. The bar was nice when the wind was blowing in the right direction.
