Feel like it is money talking. They are spreading it wide and deep. The comments made about coral regrowth rates are ludicrous. Verdant keep saying what an unbelievable deal it Is for Cayman. Yesterday’s meeting was very contrived feeling and concerns raised were glossed over. Most things that are unbelievable are so because they are untrue. Sadly it is all about the $$$. The main people in favor seem to be the politicians and not necessarily Caymanians as a whole.

This is extremely disappointing.

The Cousteau name used to stand for ocean preservation and conservation, what a disappointment.
Did it ever stand for that? I know that that is what they wanted you to think that they stood for, but the truth was always to produce a TV Show that brought customers in front of their TVs in order to buy the junk that their advertisers wanted to sell. I don't want to think of the damage done by dynamiting sharks in one of their earlier TV Shows, or the senseless coral reef distruction in their searching for treasure TV Show. Cousteau was a whore who learned to give the customer exactly what he/she wanted to see.
After 20+ years of TV Shows, in the later 70`s, Cousteau discovered that there was a market for ecological shows, and he then jumped into that niche market too.
Untill he died, Cousteau was a showman, who had learned at a very early age that the best way to keep his pockets full of change and bed full of interesting women was to give the customer something that he/she had never seen before - kind of like the circus barker out front of the "fat lady's" tent.

Very disappointing, but I'm not sure how much weight his opinions carry with the locals.

His opinions might not carry much weight with the local population, but his name recognition might blunt some international criticism. Sort of thinking that goes “Well if John is onboard with this, then it must not be too bad “

It does seem like a money vs the regular people issue. It will be interesting to see how the people of Cayman vote because projects like this are very very hard to change if they go off the rails.
