When I attempted to put a NATO strap on to my GEO 2, I found that the limiting factor was the thickness of the material used in the strap.

I had the same issue when I used a NATO on my Geo 2.0. I did manage to get the pins in but it took a bit of effort to crush the strap enough to line up the pin and the hole. I eventually just replaced the NATO with a couple loops of 1/8" bungee fed through the pins. Wasn't pretty but it was depth compensating and worked for both a 7mm with glove and 3mm without adjustment. Then i flooded the stupid thing changing batteries (tip: don't go 9 years without changing the battery o-ring)
