On our way home we arrive in Singapore at 5:30 pm, and we don't leave until 8:45 am the next morning. We would like to have a place to store our luggage (dive gear, duh), and get a few hours sleep. Sleep doesn't matter so much since we have a 15 hour flight leaving Singapore, and nothing to do but sleep haha. I know we don't have much time, but is there something reasonably close to the airport that is worth seeing while were there? Where should we store our luggage? Any brilliant ideas? If we leave the airport, is it reasonable to arrive at 6:30 am to get through security and check in or should we arrive earlier?

I'm hardly the most frequent Singapore transiter here, but do I not recall there being a transit hotel within the airport? That's the obvious choice. But of course you could stay anywhere in Singapore--it's easy to get around. Isn't your luggage checked through to your next flight? If not, then I'm sure there is a left luggage service if you decide not to get a hotel. My wife and I are cheap, so what we have done is head into the city for a food crawl--chili crabs!--and return to the airport at maybe midnight, doze off for a couple of hours in some quiet corner, and await our morning flight. The Singapore overnight layover is actually something we look forward to ... though inevitably around 3 am we start questioning our sanity.

The airport itself is amazing! One of the best airports in the world.

25+ Things To Do in Changi Airport (Perfect for a Layover in Singapore!)

Butterfly garden
Koi Pond
Enchanted Garden
Movie Theater
Rooftop pool
shopping
games
restaurants
3 hotels
2-3 hour city tours

Thanks! I have heard this airport is one of the best in the world, I'm looking forward to checking it out! I will look into these options and see what is available during the night.

Yes, there is a transit hotel that is charged hourly. I don't know how nice it is, but it's on par with dive resort pricing haha. Our luggage will not be checked through because the trip was booked in two reservations (to save $1500). If there is a safe place to "store" our luggage then we're definitely into roaming around for the night provided it's safe, and there's something interesting to see or eat. :D

An airport that has a butterfly garden, swimming pool, movie theater, etc., surely has a left luggage service. So I Googled "Changi left luggage" and this is the first hit: Baggage Storage | Singapore Changi Airport

Singapore is the safest place in the world (he says with only slight hyperbole). Restaurants and food courts abound. Do a search on "Singapore chili crab."

Awesome, thanks! I haven't done any research myself yet since everyone here seems to always recommend the best things anyway, and understands the implications of diving or carrying dive gear, etc. Also, you guys always seem to know if a service is reliable or not. Very important! :D

I will now research these suggestions you have made. Thank you. :)

Make sure you see the waterfall at the airport, its nuts.

If you do leave the airport (and I don't think you really need to), go to the harbor, so you can see the surfboard casino/hotel.

And the real Singapore experience is going to one of the small food courts and getting some tasty food. They are everywhere, open almost 24 hours a day and compared to everything else in Singapore, very very cheap.
