I turned the news on this morning and was shocked by the story coming from Santa Cruz Island. After reading the speculation on the various dive boards, Merry and I needed an escape. We headed to Torrance Reef for a late morning dive. We were hoping to repeat the conditions we had yesterday. We outdid ourselves.

Below the chunky soup of the upper ten feet was a spectacular view of the bottom sixty feet below. Visibility on the reef was better than forty feet. It was easily the best we've seen locally this year.

We mucked around for seventy minutes, looking at every tiny thing our eyes could focus on, and some we couldn't. After my aborted dive here yesterday I told Merry we would not be diving here again. Now we can't stay away.
