I think the same was said for the automobile, the internet and the cell phone. It's the 21st century, get over it.

Main feature of modern technology is that much of it can be operated by an idiot, and usually is.

Modern technology is unavoidable. If you consider yourself an idiot that's too bad.

I also found most of Bonaire off limits, and when I took it to Curacao, the wind was way over the top and I almost lost it. It would have been fun here in Fiji and I wish I had brought it. :(

Whatchya flying (when you have it with you)?

The flying in Fiji is indeed terrific. Beqa and VV are photogenic from pretty much any perspective.

Do not take your drone to Canada...you need a pilots certificate...

Flying your drone safely and legally - Transport Canada

"Drones are aircraft—which makes you a pilot."

Penalties
You could face serious penalties, including fines and/or jail time, if you break the rules.

Fines for individuals
  • up to $1,000 for flying without a drone pilot certificate
  • up to $1,000 for flying unregistered or unmarked drones
  • up to $1,000 for flying where you are not allowed
  • up to $3,000 for putting aircraft and people at risk
Fines for corporations
  • up to $5,000 for flying without a drone pilot certificate
  • up to $5,000 for flying unregistered or unmarked drones
  • up to $5,000 for flying where you are not allowed
  • up to $15,000 for putting aircraft and people at risk
If you break more than one rule, you could receive multiple penalties.

Do not fly through Canada period. You get to go through US border in YYZ where there's one "officer" per the line of 100 people and he works for 10 minutes and then takes a 5-minute break. The official wait time is 3 hours.

Dmaziuk, what are you talking about? I fly out of YYZ to US destinations all the time and going through US Customs in Toronto is a convenience compare to waiting the same length of time or longer at the other end, particularly if you need to make a connection. It does take about 30-45 minutes to get through the line but it depends on time of day. I've waited longer in US Customs lines in Chicago, NY, Atlanta and Miami.
The "official wait time" you are quoting includes check in, security , US Customs, boarding combined.

i agree with doctorfish above....and i have to say, i'm absolutely no fan of YYZ airport...and i've been though it over 100 times easy...

Dmaziuk, what are you talking about?

I'm talking about this past Wednesday when I was told to "have been lucky" to only spend over an hour in line through US CBP. We had some "entitled" Americans taken out of the queue and escorted away after they complained loudly, in a scene that reminded me of the movie Top Secret: I half-expected to hear the firing squad behind the door they were escorted through.

(PS I now have no questions about that Polish guy they killed a while back: I know exactly how that happened.)

I too have been through Miami, Atlanta, and most often Chicago in he last two decades and while they have 3 times longer lines, they also have 5 times more officers who work twice as fast.
