With words like "demand" and "ask" being bandied about, it's important to note that there is precious little difference between the two
That's interesting. In my mind, they were quite different. I looked the words up. It turns out that you're right, the definitions are very close.

That's something I'll have to consider for a bit.

I always thought of a demand as something a lawyer did and an ask as something a good person does.

I live in the french speaking part of a country that has 3 official national languages (French, Flemish, and German), in french, the verb "to ask" is "demander". "I ask" is translated as "je demande".

In Italian, one way to translate "to ask" is "domandare"
