Hello-

Currently diving in Cozumel. Anyone know what this is?

Thank you!

It is in the guidebooks under bristle worms and/or fire worms, I don't have one handy to be more specific.
I was seeing them everywhere last week in Cozumel, especially on my night shore dives. Pretty common once you start looking for them.

My grandson was on a cruise with my daughter and others, playing on the beach there, and he found one of those under a rock. He likes to play with spiders and such so picked it up, briefly, first and last time!

I did the same thing when I was young and stupid. I was picking those tiny virtually invisible spines out of my hand for days!

Vinegar. The spines are made of calcium carbonate. They dissolve in vinegar in about 2 seconds.
