Hi so I completed my advanced open water dive yesterday. After the dive I noticed there was a pressure in my left ear and didn't think anything of it as it doesn't hurt but there is some discomfort. I've tried popping my ears but it's just not working however I can feel it pop like 6 times it's weird. Should I let the issue go on for a few days and see if it goes away or should I act on it asap.

My recommendation would be to make an appointment with your general practitioner (family doctor) or an ear/nose/throat specialist sooner than later.

If there is a few days wait until the appointment and your situation resolves then you can perhaps cancel the appointment, if your situation becomes worse in the interim you can seek more immediate evaluation at an emergency medical treatment center.

It is hard to know specifically what is going on in your ear(s) without direct examination and more history but you may have sustained mild barotrauma to your ear during your dive either directly from the pressure changes or from your equalization technique.

Get your ears examined and work with your doc to figure out the best course of treatment. Hopefully it is not something serious and can be resolved with rest and anti-inflammatory meds.

Good luck.

Disclaimer: I am not a doctor, just a long time diver and a former diving instructor.

It doesn't sound to me like an injury and it will more likely than not clear up on its own. However, I would recommend having your GP look at it if for no other reason to get a better understanding of why it happened. That information might help you do something to avoid a repeat in the future.
