Alert Diver | Catastrophic Regulator Failure

I didn’t know that some first stages had this ‘feature’
Oceanic had a similar feature on some brands/models, no longer available.
Mares recently introduced an add-on option kit.
Aqualung newer production has a modified design to eliminate the issue if torque of the ACD shutter valve loosens, no communication regarding any retrofits at this point.

AFAIK, the ACD issue only applies to the yoke models, not DIN. I've been very happy with the ACD feature on my (DIN) regs.

I am not versed into how a regulator works. Is there a reason why the DIN ones are more resilient ?

Correct. Even if the DIN version loosens, result is not the same.

Check the thread link from @uncfnp for details. In brief, the loose part can create a restriction/seal on face of some yoke valves, but face of DIN valve is different.
