No swim advisories for many of Sarasota County beaches including Venice. Extreme Red tide continues. Fish & Marine life has taken an extreme toll. I observed growth dying on the bottom of the blocks at S. Brohard in July and can only imagine what it looks like now.

I can actually smell the red tide now from my house. Well, more appropriately, I can smell the dead fish from my house.

Red Tide Slight no fresh fish on shore
water was lightly tinted red
there was no life anywhere
there is a black later covering the bottom
and there is a lot of snot in the water

Took my boat out this morning. My main
goal was to see what it was like out there.
Also took along my gear just in case it was
good enough to dive.

The intracoastal, jetties and the Gulf were
disgusting. The reddish brown soup like
water has transitioned to brownish gray
water – looked like a muddy ditch.

The smell has also changed. No longer smells
like red tide and dead fish. Now it smells like
decay and sulfur - like some fetid back-water
swamp. Went straight out from the Pier two
miles and the water was still nasty.

At 2.5 miles it went from nasty to slightly less
nasty. Lowered my under water video and the
bottom was covered with that black silt.

Obviously no diving today, or for some time to come.
