My hydros is one of the originals so it must have the initial design shoulder strap. Same as general comments here I have 150+ dives on it, I keep it clean and rinsed but apart for that it has a normal life its used regularly including a lot of shore dives where its on my back with integrated weights and tank attached while I have to trek to the entry point. I have had zero issues with this BCD still looks as good as new. So I wouldn't pay too much attention to any gossip about not storing on a hanger mine is always stored on a hanger and my shoulder straps have been 100% solid.
