Hi All,

I'll be in Australia for work next week.

5 days in Melbourne
2 days in Sydney
7 days in Cairns

Any recommendations for day trips?

I have too much work to do a liveabord. I've already done the SS Yongola (amazing!) and can't make the 5 hour drive down to townsville.

Are there any great day trips out of Cairns? That is where I will have the most free time!

Thanks in advance!

Hi All,

If you're into Military stuff and History i'd recommend the Australian Armour and Artillery Museum, got a great range of tanks you can view and a shooting range. I'd also recommend a scenic drive up to Port Douglas stopping along the way to do some of the short walks and you could work in a visit to Barron falls into your drive to Port Douglas. There's also a number of places that do crocodile spotting excursions up there. South of Cairns are some other nice national parks you could hike in and some swimming holes as well. Very nice tropical scenery there.

I can recommend Tusa for day trips out to the reef from Cairns. Seem to be the best of the day trip options if you can't manage a liveaboard.
