Can anyone recommend any good dive groups/sites/day trips/etc? People in my area have gotten a little obsessed with the Caribbean, and I'm having trouble finding places for local diving.

Where in the mid-Atlantic are you?
I'm in northern West Virginia - Morgantown, to be precise. Roughly two hours south of Pittsburgh, PA, and about five from DC (although part of that's traffic).

Summersville lake is near you. About 2h from Morgantown. You can contact Sarge's dive shop for more information.

Mt Storm Lake used to allow diving. I don't think they do anymore. You might be able to do it from a boat.

There are a few quarries in Northern Virginia. Hydes quarry and Milbrook quarry, I believe.

Dutch springs is in Pa. Lake Phoenix is south of Richmond, Va. Both are about 5 h from Morgantown.

I don't know what is on the Ohio side.

If you find a good local spot, post back.
