Blackbeard's Aug 2017 Tips? Going there with a tour booked through Sea Adventures Scuba out of Atlanta. So far I am going by myself and will likely partner up when I get on board. (Unless I find a buddy prior to going on my trip) My father and long-time dive buddy passed away last year.

You'll get to know everyone on the boat very well... whether you want to or not. It's close quarters and a lot of people (IIRC, about 24 guests and 5 crew when we went.) The food was excellent, the diving was amazing (86 degree water all the way down, and 100+ ft viz everywhere.) And there was really not much to do other than eat sleep and dive. So we dove a lot.

The thing I liked most about the BB boat was that everyone was there to dive, so everyone was very content with the eat-sleep-dive schedule, and everyone got along very well.

If you have questions about anything in particular, post them and I'll do my best. My mom is heading out there next week and will board the BB boat next weekend. When she gets home at the end of May I can get some first-hand, current information for you.

Thank you for the quick reply. I can't wait to go!

Haven't been on Blackbeard's; I keep some old threads on my note system in case I go. They might help you -

Can't help with tips, but please post a review with everything you learn and do when you get back. I'm thinking it's on the list this year. Thanks in advance.

Jay

I will post a review when I return in August from Blackbeard's Liveaboard. Thanks Jay and Drrich2

Bring less clothes than you think you need, bring quick dry towels, they give you a storage bin on deck for fins, masks, etc so a dry bag helps, request a bunk forward and try not to get bunk 8. Bring a compass.

Their max is 22 IIRC. They could squeeze in more but they do limit it.

As it was said most everyone does get along and has a good time. It is an unforgettable experience.

Bring ear plugs. You don't get your own cabin, it is "dorm style" bunks with privacy curtains, so if somebody snores, everybody gets to hear it.:(

I would definitely be interested to know how the trips goes as well. I have done a few live aboards and I agree with the clothes...take as little as possible. Have a great time.

Blackbeards sounds great! I'm booked for the June 24-30, 2017 trip, but cannot go. There are 2 bunks available. The cost per person is $995 for all you can eat/drink and up to 19 dives. If anyone is interested, please contact Blackbeards to book directly with them. 800.327.9600 Thanks!
