6" is most common for SM, especially for lollipop gauges. I use 9" and run mine back over the cylinder, and the longer length makes it a little easier to bend up and see.

Had 6, swapping to 9.
What is your reason ?
I have my hoses bend under the sidemount tank strap in order to look easier on the gauges, if I have them hanging along the tank it it kind of annoying to find the gauge, I believe by going to 9" both senarios will make it easier to watch and/or find and watch the gauge in case I want to keep it along the tank
