I haven't read anything, where did you hear about it?

Friend of a customer. Apparently she had to be flown to Grand Cayman where she was hospitalized and then to the us for more treatment. Some sort of back issue caused by DCS although the details are vague.

I got to know her in June & joined her dive club, CHUM (City of Houston Underwater Mariner), near where I live. That's really an unfortunate situation what happened to her. First time I learn about Patent Foramen Ovale — DAN | Divers Alert Network — Medical Dive Article

Those who have the PFO are prone to get bent. So SCUBA diving is not for everyone.

I did get bent but on Grand Cayman, not the Brac. Pretty scary but fortunately, I got great care from Ocean Frontiers, the docs and the chamber people and of course, my CHUM buddies. I honestly don't know what I would have done without them. They are the definition of buddies.

I had a follow up appointment with a doctor here and will have an echo with a bubble study to see if I have a PFO. The doctor said that even if I do, I may still be able to dive but I'd have some restrictions. Right now, it's one step at a time. I do need to see an ENT for my ear as that's not getting any better. Not any worse, but no better so that's a step too.

Other than the ear, though, I'm back to my old self. Thank goodness! :D

From reading this thread, it looks like there may have been a woman who got bent on the Brac; I hope she's ok too.

A couple days ago I just heard from one of my dive buddies in Brazosport Underwater Club who went to Cayman Brac a couple weeks ago that one of them passed out in the hot tub then she was flown to Grand Cayman and went to hyperbaric chamber. In the end, she didn't get bent, just had a herniated disk.
