Another passing of a legend!! Prayers for his family!

So sad. RIP.

first met capt. in 1980 when I lived in aruba; several of us would hop over to Bonaire for weekend trips; the changes to the habitat since then have been amazing; don actually was asked to leave aruba years ago; thankfully for us, he decided to make a huge difference in the future of diving in Bonaire -the rest is history and self evident to anyone who has ever dived there: RIP from the LAGO crew

Oh, KathyV, that made me smile. From the red ribbon depth gauge to the old B and W photos. Thank you for posting about this great conservationist.

Sorry to hear of Don's passing. I met Don in 1980 when I first stayed at Habitat. He was a great conversationalist, but like me had specific opinions. Over the upcoming years, we continued our disagreement on the safe diving limits of compressed air. It really was a sore point with him that I (and Habitats Chief Instructor) would routinely dive the Windjammer. In those days, Air was all you had on the island.

Although Don wasn't a certified diver (like many pioneers) he dedicated a large part of his life to the underwater world. We agreed on protecting the underwater environment; a subject that was almost as close to his heart as his lovely lady Janet. We passed many hours in pleasant conversation. He will be missed.

Captain Don. What a special friend and we miss Jack also..
