yep sox win. I used sharkskin and various dive socks for years. Without socks I would get blisters every time. I had surgery to my foot and have trouble fitting the specialty socks. I have found that good pair of wool socks works just fine. It protects the rather tender incision site as well.

Other suggestion is between dives get the boots off so the feet can dry out on the surface interval. Having soggy feet for extended time also cause problems.

I think the effect of this is often underestimated - for a day with multiple dives, you could have your entire kit on for 6-8 hrs. Would you sit at home with your feet in a bucket of water for that time? In effect, wearing booties for that period of time is doing that as once water is in the bootie there is virtually no way out until you remove it.

I got bad blisters on one of my first liveaboard trips and used duct tape for protection. After that I tried cotton socks and they were okay but not great, they would lump up and get uncomfortable. After I found lycra scuba socks I knew it was the best solution for me and always carry two pair on dive trips.

The lycra socks work great and also make taking off the booties eazy-peazy.

Thanks for your replies. I'll try the socks.

Love my xs scuba beefy socks! Fleece lined lycra. So comfy.

I ordered a pair of the XS Scuba Beefy Socks. Hope they do the trick!

I wear cotton/bamboo socks and never get blisters. Prior to wearing the socks, I got blisters all the time. I tried the lycra socks but they didn't fit as well as my cotton/bamboo socks. My husband wears wool socks and never gets blisters either.
