I am visiting Khao Lak in February.
Went Phuket in November, done 13 dives with See Bees. Was pretty good, but could be better.

Am hoping on seeing some Mantas & maybe even bigger...WS! Ive seen these in Maldives but am hoping Similans Reserve is going to be more outstanding.

Any tips from anyone best dive sites?

Other tips on Khao Lak?

I found the Thai people very chilled & nice before.

Best chance of mantas is at Koh Bon. Best chance of whale sharks is at Richelieu Rock. Those are both in the nearby Surin Marine Park, normally dived from Khao Lak. Neither species makes appearances at the behest of divers but both can be easily chased away (and often do so!) by overzealous divers. February is one of the best months to give you chances of seeing them though.

Similans, Bon and Tachai (also excellent place for whale sharks) are both in Similans national park, Surin islands and Richelieu Rock are in Surin national park.

For daytrips your options are limited: for Tachai and Richelieu Rock there are 2 real options: Wetzone and Big Blue, I prefer Wetzone, for Similans and Bon there are 2 options: IQ and Sea Bees.
