At Porteau Cove for a dive this afternoon when a boat pulled into the bay, dropped anchor and started jigging. Some park rangers got on a bull horn and told them to get out and report to the dock. They said they didn't know it was a no fishing area.

Discussing it on the way home we thought it might be a good idea to install a permanent dive flag in the bay for people who don't have a clue.

Still unbelievable...it is shown as Porteau Cove Marine Park on the Howe Sound chart.

I am guessing they wont know what a dive flag is either. "this red flag must mark where to throw lobster pots in!"

Find it hard to believe they did not know it was a non-fishing area. They seriously putted around and decided to stop in a place with a bunch of surface marker buoys sectioning off a bay? It does not take a brainiac to realize that that probably means something. Or if they launched from Porteau...that would be plain dumb.
