I didn't know there were names for these either...<br><br>I swith between the VTO and Valsalva as a descend. &nbsp;If I am doing an Open Water class dive I probable do more Valsalva so students can see me and it reminds them to equalize frequently. &nbsp;If I am doing for myself it is more VTO than Valsalva...to be honest I really don't put much thought into it when I am not teaching.
 
When I took my class in "84", all they taught was the valsalva technique. I have tried the others since then, but, the valsalva seems to be the only thing that works for me. I do try not to blow to hard.
