I've read what few reports there are on Mammoth Lake and I couldn't see much of a pattern in the variability of visibility. I'm curious if there is a time of year where the vis is most likely to be at it's best.
 
I've had good luck with viz (15'-20') diving during the Jan-March time frame. I haven't been there since the last ownership change though. An instructor friend of mine was doing deep dives back in November and said the viz sucked at only about 1' to 2' at best. Never been in the summer.
 
This past April I went there and estimated the vis to be 20-30 ft... You have to get there before the algae bloom mid to late summer..
