The lionfish, of interest to National Geographic

I had the opportunity to munch on lionfish filets in Bonaire two months ago. I found it to be quite tasty.

Get the commercial fishers to target this species and there is a chance they will be wiped out (like many other targeted species)!

I buy mine at the mercado municipal (they have BIG ones) and have them filet it for me. I marinate the filets for an hour in a mix of soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, and fresh grated ginger, then sauté it. I add the rest of the marinade towards the end, then serve the fish sprinkled with chopped green onions and a side of rice with pine nuts and currants.

Excellent! If there is an interest and thus a demand for lion fish, maybe we can hold them in check a bit better as they get fished. Likewise, if can reduce the demand for shark fins, black coral, etc, perhaps the industry will dwindle.

........Ask Paul Prudhomme to get a 'blackened lionfish' recipe going--------they'll be diminished in no time-------like the redfish he(personally) took off the Federal catch list...:)......

:D Psst.. Caribbean Lion Fish meat is a more powerful aphrodisiac than Rino horn. Do not let this info get to China as it may cause them to become another endangered species.:D

Another well kept secret: sauted lionfish liver works better and longer than any Viagra I have ever taken. Trust me!!

Cute, but the REAL rumor to start is that ONLY Lionfish from the Atlantic are aphrodisiacs....those from the Pacific are poisonous.
