DGX sell the Petrel with a "bungee mount adaptor" can any tell me if this is from shearwater or something specific from DGX. Also how well it works as opposed to the standard straps. From the pictures the two straps look a little klunky. Cheers.

Link? Reading the description it sounds like an add on as the straps that come with the unit are bulky. I replaced them cord bungee from my DSS compass (i.e. my computer and compass are mounted on the same bungee. Works great as I like to wear my computer on the under side of wrist.

Theres no picture on their website it just lists the adaptor in included items with purchase. I'm having difficulty imagining it. I might ask them if they can provide a photo. Cheers.

Now that sounds like an interesting configuration worth trying.

Hehe, so I dug the box mine came in and sure enough these straps are included. I never noticed them before as they were tucked in with the quick start guide (who reads that). After redoing my original bungee set up to use them. Meh. I think it is easier and better to skip the straps and just run the bungee cord through instead. The computer wiggles a bit using just the cords but I like fine.

Yes, Shearwater ships the Petrels with these rubber straps packed as Scared Silly found his. Dive Gear Express adds a couple of feet of the shock cord to allow you to make up a bungee mount. Many divers find this easier to use, especially with the bulk of a drysuit.

Thanks for the replies ladies and gentlemen. Guess I'll have a wee play and see what works best.

DGX you'll receive my order in the next couple of days.

Cheers.
