I am looking for some feedback on these 2 BCD's.

Let me give you all some background on myself and my diving to help you make recommendations.

I am a middle aged, father of 2, who has just started diving thanks to my family. I received my Open Water Certification in late August and have since completed; Peak Performance Bouyancy, and Dry Suit, as well as my Advanced Open Water Certification. I have just booked a liveaboard with my local dive shop in Jan and want to get my own gear before the trip.

Thanks in advance for your insights, all

The i3 looks like a really awesome tech. Just remember if you go that route that you and your dive buddy should practice your skills with it. including manually inflating your bladder. It is different enough that you don't want to have to figure that stuff out on the fly.

Also in before a back plate and wing.

Although I also have a backplate and wing, BP/W, I have yet to start using it.

I do have the Excursion II and it is a very nice BCD I have over 80 dives on it and it looks almost brand new.

Looking at it now, I would say go for the Excursion. It is a rear inflate while the Axiom is a jacket. It has a standard inflator and I think that would be much less confusing. I don't understand the "advantage" of the i3 inflator.
