One other tip: avoid ruins, cenotes, most of the beach, etc. on Sundays. It's family day for the locals and those places tend to be even more packed.

That should be easy enough - we land at 13.40 on a Sunday and fly out at 15.30 the following Sunday. Thanks for all the advice.
 
I would recommend Nicolas from www.cenotexperience.com.mx He is very professional, safety conscious and he has the best subs for lunch. He really enjoys what he does. His shop is in Playa Del Carmen. He picks up and drops off at your resort.

I also recommend snorkeling with the turtles at Akumal bay. You can do the Tulum ruins and snorkeling at Akumal the same day. The Coba ruins are west of Tulum. I would not do an organized tour. Just hop on the colectivo and go yourself. You can hire a guide once you are there. It is a lot cheaper and you are on your own time schedule.
