I have a BC which doesn't use 2" webbing and not always friendly in terms of attaching things to the webbing (would require cutting and sewing).

Is it a bad idea to start using an "accessories" belt to attach things to?

Well to better answer you question what things do you want to attach? I found attaching pockets to wet suits is a good idea and you can put a lot of things in them.

Right now, a cutter and small can light.

Unless it is easier to get a new BC?

I would try a BP/W but that is $$ I don't have to spend right now.

I mainly need a way to attach my can light. Maybe I'll get one of those quick clips with webbing loop things instead.

One of my friends uses a weight belt for her can light. She wears it under her BC

I have seen can lights attached to tank straps... maybe an option, if you tuck it against the BC?

Dave.
