The demolition of the bassin is only part of the project of refurbishing the stadium's pool hall. This hall is now already closed for the renovations.
There is one legal petition, the others have no legal value. We are trying to have our voices heard in the project of either keeping the old bassin or be involved in the design of the new one.
The actual plan is to replace te 15m bassin with a 5m diving pool.
The old 15m had a series of attendance problems due to poor management. The access was limited and also hard to get to especially if you wanted to bring your own heavy gear.
The uproar is going on and we have several activists trying to reverse or modify the decision.

We therefore need as much support from anyone (non-divers included) to sign this petition:

https://www.assnat.qc.ca/en/exprimez-votre-opinion/petition/Petition-3467/index.html

This is the only wich has legal value, so please get involved....
It also has a Febuary 4th deadline.

Thanks already

All done

Good new : the RIO (regis des installations olympiques) has decided to organise consultations with all parties concerned (divers & clubs included) to evavluate the future options for the bassin.

Thanks to all who signed the petition and keep spreading it, we're on the right track.....

Great to hear.

I suggest when you sit down and develop a plan forwarwd you look at stategies for multiple uses for the pool besides diving, manage it for as much exposure as possible to the public and then keep encouraging people to actually use it.

Good luck...

I had no idea a 50' deep pool existed for scuba use in MTL- what a shame if they close it.

As of today, it is unfortunately closed.
The complete pool complex is closing for renovations for 15 months. Nobody knows if the diving pool will reopen unfortunately.
A real shame :(
