Not much I can add to this. Mt wife has lower back issues. She cannot stand with her equipment on her back. she did it in training and was in pain for a few weeks. we both enjoy divi g a great deal, but I do pla the role of pack mule. for a shore dive, I take her equipment far enough into the surf that she can sit down and slip the bcd on. for a boat dive, take the gear to the end of the boat, she sits down on the dive platform and gears up, then she gets shoved in.

Getting out is pretty much re reverse. no way she can climb a ladder with the bcd, tank etc on her back.

so, It's either me be a pack mule or she does not dive. It's a small price to pay for the enjoyment we get diving together.
