With spring coming, I would like to build a "Save-A-Dive" kit with things that might save me from having to cancel that day's dive. Extra this, back-up that, etc. Asking around, I have gotten a wide variety of suggestions so I thought I would ask the SB community as well. From past experiences, what realistically do you recommend to have available that has come in handy, glad you had more than one of, and/or something that kept you from a canceled day of diving?

Spare O rings, mask, gloves and hood if you require them where you dive. I would also have an extra inflator hose and a wrench to change it out with. It kind of depends. I'm close enough to the ocean that if something fails disastrously, I will just thumb the dive and straighten it out at home.

What I most commonly use:
- o rings + pick
- a mask strap/extra mask (if you have one)
- extra fin strap
- din to yoke adapter (even if you don't use din, others frequently tend to forget one)
- a couple of extra bolt snaps
- zip ties
- a couple spin in din to yoke adapters (for the convertible valves) + a wrench (the one for your garbage disposal works well!)
- allen wrenches that fit the lp/hp port plugs on your first stage
- adjustable crescent wrench
- extra lp inflator hose (these tend to leak more than any of the other hoses)

All of that plus some other miscellaneous bits and pieces fit in a very small plastic divided case. I also usually carry around some extra 2 pound weights in my car (the clip on ankle weights work well) in case someone I am diving with is a few pounds light. If I'm going on a more extensive trip I will also usually bring a complete backup reg set.

Hope that helps!

Fin straps
Batteries for lights and computer.
Tools
Zip ties
o-rings
mask

all good ideas, I would add:

10' of cave line
10' of shock cord
a second adjustable wrench
small tube of aquaseal

All great suggestions! Thank you, everyone!

I have an extra OPV because buddies of mine have had OPV issues during a dive and having a spare one to swap out saved the next dive.

In Bonaire last week, I had a leak in my SPG. My buddy had a spare spool (spindle) which saved my dives for the remainder of our trip. I will be adding the spool with the O-rings to my Save-a-Dive kit.

There some great thread on this topic with lots of great ideas. Some have even more links in some of the posts. Here are just a few to peruse:

off the top of my head in mine I have:

Fin straps (with clips to attach them)
Mask strap
Tank O-rings (make sure to have different sizes for the different tank valves)
airspool orings and an old spool that's been "rebuilt"
small flat headed screwdriver (to pop old o-ring off with)
LP Plugs (and their orings)
various zip ties (ranging from small for attaching mouthpieces to large enough to tie stuff off with)
duct tape
about two feet of 1/4" bungee cord
tube of oring grease (for camera housing)
regulator mouth piece
weight belt buckle
weight keepers
snorkel keepers
allen wrench
2 small adjustable wrenches
needle nose pliers

I also keep an old mask, a pair of gloves and a slimline Octo and a spare flashlight in my bag.

Most people would not know what to do with half the stuff in my save-a-dive box... I bring full rebuild kits for the 1st and 2nd stages... spare high and low pressure hoses.. WRENCHES & ALLEN keys, A adjustable... God I hate them...:shakehead: Masks, fins , strap's, Extra mouth pieces... Zip ties.... Big pile of o-rings to fix everything.... I just bring every back-up I would ever need.... :idk:

Jim...
