The 2012 International Public Safety Diver Conference will take place
October 15-18, 2012 and the registration fees INCLUDE the hotel room!

The four day conference fee is $600 (hotel room included) and if you bring your dive buddy and share the room, they pay only $500. In addition to the four day conference, access to exhibitors, the ability to dive and see the latest and greatest in technology operating in the field, and the hotel room ... the conference fee includes continental breakfast and boxed lunches on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and dinner on Wednesday evening!

For an overview of the conference, visit:
http://iadrs.org/media/Conference_flyer_2012.pdf

The conference agenda will center around the role of public safety diver protecting the homeland and working within a structured incident command system. Speakers from the FBI, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office, Long Beach Police, Los Angeles City Port Authority, U.S. Coast Guard Deployable Operations Group-Dive Team will all speak on their roles in homeland security, how they use technology, how they have acquired grants and how they interact with other teams. Two days of in-water dive scenarios are planned so BRING YOUR DIVE GEAR! This is a unique opportunity to learn from some of the best public safety divers in the country!

During the conference, attendees will see how the incident command system is utilized to increase safety and the flow of information. Participants must be active public safety divers, affiliated with a recognized dive team and provide proof of dive certification prior to in-water training. A liability waiver is also required. For those who do not wish to dive or are unable to dive due to injury or disability, there is still plenty to do shoreside! The Divers Alert Network (DAN) is providing certification training in Diver First Aid and Oxygen Administration. They are also providing instructor level post conference classes for $250 and that will allow participants to return to their agencies and provide DAN certification programs to their members. IADRS staff and Dive Rescue International corporate trainers will also share information on the incident command system and how technology and good training have helped increase safety on their respective dive teams.

Yotsie,

Registration exceeded 100 people last week! Registrations are coming in daily and things are shaping up for another great conference. Please help us spread the word .

Thanks a million!

The my friends on SCUBA Board who have not yet signed up, it's not too late. We have exceeded our room block at the hotel but they are still allowing us to book rooms and accept registrations, so rates have not gone up (yet). In order to assure that you get a room, please fax your registration or call 1-800-IADRS-911 (as opposed to using "snail mail").

I look forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones at the conference!

Regards,

Blades

Blades,
Found out about this to late to get it on the schedule and head down there. Next year though I hope to attend. Has the dates and locations for 2013 been decided yet so I can get it on my schedule?

Myles,

Alaska is being represented by several team members from Sitka. I'm sorry you are unable to attend. No dates for 2013 have bee set yet but we are giving strong consideration to Indianapolis, IN. I will advise you and other forum readers when we have a host agency contract and conference center contract in hand with firm dates.

Thanks a million for your interest!

Herb from Sitka will be there. He's a great guy, so be sure to talk diving with him and get him out of the water occasionally to dry off...

Not sure how many of the team members are going, Alaska Day is October 18th(A VERY big deal in Sitka) so I have to stay here and work.

Hope you all have fun and stay safe.

I was there and I a, very glad I was, not only was it a great time but it was very educational. The vendors were great and very willing to let us play with all the new toys. I didn't even see anyone get upset when a boat drifted off it's beach anchor and tore a very $$ ROV out of the controls of the owner. It was recovered no problem after all we had about 50 divers geared up and ready to dive.

For all the folks that worked on the conference I want to say thank you and it was a job well done.
Herb-Alaska AKA one of the 2 token Alaskans at the conference
