Help!

We got screwed by the Porto fino hotel in ambergris caye and got dumped at some place in San Ignacio that is between an rv park and a leper colony! Jan the owner basically told us we were on our own. We have a hotel for one night, on our own dime, but I can't reach Expedia on any of their numbers from here, my cell is useless.

My email is martinwalker66@gmail.com. Can anyone provide any advice, pointers, ways to get in touch with Expedia, a couch?

Thanks

If you scream and shout enough, finally things happen. Had to yell bloody murder and threaten physical violence, but emergency is over.

Minus about a million points for jan vannorden (sp?) at porto fino. Don't recommend doing business with that lying sslime

Until the local police haul him off.

Or at least until he leave the room and his stuff all vanishes.

You know about the hurricane, right...??

Sounds like a credit card could have handled this just fine.

Credit cards can obtain refunds after the fact, but not fix onsite problems.

Yes I know about the hurricane. It's not about that, it's all about the way management at porto fino handled it, or didn't handle it. I don't know about interesting, looks like a boring trip with no diving.

Sounds like a nightmare... but have to say that this is one of the reasons using a dive travel specialist is so valuable. Not only can you speak to a real (knowledgeable) person, but due to the volume of business we send to many dive resorts, our clients seldom have any issues, and if they do, they are resolved quickly to the satisfaction of the guest (and don't forget... the services of a professional dive travel specialist cost you ZERO!!). If you can get over to the coast and into Hamanasi or Jaguar Reef Lodge... these are two nearby dive resorts that we highly recommend.

Why don't you hop a bus to Belize City and get a hotel for a night, then on to Ambergris? I'm sure this time of year there are many vacancies there. What would you do if you were home and this happened?

I'm curious how Jan (the owner) responds to this. From reading reviews on Tripadvisor, it seems that he sometimes responds to negative reviews. From your side, it sounds pretty horrible and like the owner made some real customer service blunders, but there always are multiple sides. Also, I'd be interested in more details of your story - there are a lot of emotions, but not a lot of facts about what actually happened.
