Lake Tahoe Rubicon Wall Dive Sunday May 22 2011

We did a dive on the Rubicon Wall on Sunday. This site is considered by many to be the best dive site Lake Tahoe has to offer. The wall is dramatic with steep dropoffs and is a bottomless dive. Well, here is my video from the dive.

Nice. I have seen a lot of vids from tahoe but have yet to see a fish. How often do you go and do you ever see any ? That is the only thing keeping me from diving there.

Nice vid Mike! I don't remember seeing the trees, maybe you were deeper?? We kept it mostly above 70ft.

I have seen a bait ball at Rubicon Wall getting ravaged by a Kokanee. It was the coolest thing I have seen in Tahoe, since the salmon was literally darting around me chomping the bait ball 3 feet away. Otherwise I have dove there without ever seeing a single fish. Lots of crawdads though!

On that dive I managed to see a Mackinaw Trout swimming up the slope in sheer terror. I do not think that they like the sound the scooter makes!
We were not deeper, we were 50-60 feet, but we did go far. We ran 87 minutes and surface only a couple hundred yards from the mouth of Emerald Bay. This is the nice thing about having a live boat, you do not have to head back. It was a lot of fun!

Crawdads are good... especially with melted butter. Speaking of which, I have been thinking of running over to dive folsom lake to get a few as soon as my schedule allows.
