Quick question on the Mares Icon - will it support Tri Mix? or Mixed Gasses? is this in the future plans?
Reason for my curiosity is the unit is rated to 100 meters and not attainable at the minimum of 20% O2 without exceeding the 1.6 PO2 saturation and tripping a persons CNS clock or having a extended deco stop.
My main question stems from the fact I will be extending further into Technical officially versus recreationally
Technical Diving - main concerns around PO2 and CNS Clock ( up until now tables, depth gauge, watch, and a slate were enough "that is how I was taught" )
Pursuing Tech further (Hypoxic Trimix is "<18% o2" and Normoxic Trimix ">18%")
Computers are necessary as instructors urge ability to do the math, but rely on the machine to insure you do not make a terminal error.

I rechecked my numbers and included reference links:
Initial Table I certified against - http://www.huntzinger.com/dive/old_PADI_dive_table.jpg
Also the Navy tables updated - http://diver.net/navy_tables/Navy_air_tables.pdf
extending the CNS clock, thoughts and questions - Rebreather World

Do let me know if this is supported or what is the workaround for this unit to get the math correct
Thanks in Advance
Stephan

The Icon HD is a great recreational computer but it really wasn't designed as a tech computer. In my opinion, the best tech computer out there is the Shearwater Predator!! I have nothing against the Liquivision computers...I just don't have personal experience on them like I do on my Predator. Plus, I think the majority of Rebreather manufacturers use the Predator built in to their RB's. I'm pretty sure you can't go wrong with either Shearwater or Liquivision!!!

Hi Stephan.
The Icon HD does pretty much everything except for Tri-mix. It will monitor 3 different gasses up to 100% O2, but again no tri-mix. So if you are truly going technical, then this probably isn't the computer for you.

We do care, and the Icon is not a piece of... It did have a few bugs to begin with, however most have been completely worked out, and we have a new beta firmware update to handle the balance. We are constantly improving it and offering these firmware upgrades at no charge as they become available.

I hope this helps.

Best regards,

Zak

Hi Zak

I am using a Mares Icon HD and been very happy with it (besides it doesnt really work 100% with a Mac, which is a pain.) I have recently converted to sidemount diving that requires breathing from each tank in tandem. Does the Mares with twin transmitters enable for twin tank usage on a single dive.

Thanks Jason
