What do you use to weight your float so that it stays upright? I have a small round float with a flag on top. It's popular so most of you probably know the one I'm talking about. How much weight to a need in the bottom to keep it upright? I am thinking just a few rocks ought to do it. After all I want it to float. Any suggestions?

Thanks teller that's something I hadn't thought of. Like weighting a fishing line. I also didn't even think about using water. Duh!

I connect the line to the float with two carabiners, one normal size the other larger. Seem to provide enough weight without adding anything to the inside of the float.

My buoy has a pole that extends below the surface about as far as the flag rises above. It came with a weight I estimate to be 1.5 pounds. The weight has a hole for the tether line so it's the point when which it is towed.

I have about 4500 lbs of lead in the keel. I find that that does a nice job of keeping the mast upright while we are moored for diving.
