My Daughter & I are thinking of a dive trip to Bora Bora and I was wondering if anyone that has been to Bora Bora,
could tell me how the diving is there and what else we might do while vacationing there
:D

Lucky daughter.

The water is warm and clear. There are thousands of cute little blacktip reef sharks, as well as a host of tropical fish. Aside from that, there isn't really a whole lot to *DO* there (in fairness, I was honeymooning, so perhaps I wasn't as focused on getting out and finding things to go). Parasailing is a nice way to see the water and islands from above.

I stayed at the Pearl resort. Perhaps some of the bigger ones have more activities. For me, the novelty of taking a boat from my hotel to meet with a taxi to take me into town wore off quickly.

If you enjoy hiking, maybe add a couple nights over on Moorea (you'll likely fly into PPT, and Moorea is the next stop), which has some of the most gorgeous views I've ever seen.

Have a great time!

I was there for two days in February 2011 while on a cruise. I love Bora Bora! Check out the Bora Diving Center and also Top Dive. We dove with both shops and they were equally great. Get on a dive at Anau to see the mantas. That's a restricted area and they only allow 10 divers a day there. I'm already planning a return visit, this time to just go there for 10 days or so.

I also believe that Bora Bora may be the most beautiful place on Earth. I can't imagine anywhere more beautiful...

I went to Bora Bora for 2 days almost 5 years ago and the diving was excellent during the day and night. I dove with Top Dive and they were fantastic. We were on the Tahitian Princess 10 day cruise including Tahiti, Moorea, Raiatea, Huahine, Raratonga and Bora Bora. I dove off each island except Tahiti and Raratonga because I read that they weren't as well preserved. Moorea and Bora Bora were the nicest diving. Raiatea had lots of little black tips, lemons and grey sharks throughout. They call the black tips "friendly sharks" because they escort you from start to finish. It was amazing, they came as soon as the boat stopped and they followed us for the whole dive - and there was no food involved. We saw hammerheads but as soon as we stopped the boat, they left. Huahine had "pass" diving where the big pelagics hang out but one of our group coudn't clear and descend fast enough so we missed the pass and ended up diving on so-so reef.

I would recommend a cruise because each island is very small and you have plenty of time to go diving and see each island. We were on Bora Bora for 2 days and we spent 3 days in Tahiti. The others were one day each or overnight and it was plenty of time to see everything.

Bora Bora has a famous beach bar called Bloody Mary's with a board listing celebrities who have visited. The spas are awesome and you can have a massage on an incredible beach. Book in advance! The overwater bungalows are very expensive and offer a very relaxing, beautiful view with a glass view below the bungalow into the water. When we went, snorkellers were seeing manta rays right up at the beach (although we didn't - we saw eagle rays).

Have an awesome time! I took some u/w pics but I wasn't getting the settings very well. There are pics here under "Tahiti and Islands 2007": http://skydrive.live.com/?cid=abacb...2601207729E&id=ABACB2601207729E!115&sc=photos

Great info! My wife and I are heading there for our 10 year anniversary in September. We are cruising on the Paul Gauguin with dives almost every day. We are also spending a couple extra days in Tahiti and Moorea at each end of the cruise. We are really looking forward to doing some tropical diving. So far, the only diving we have done is in our local (cold) waters.

When I was researching French Polynesia for a trip I found quite alot of info here - The Pacific Islands

I also used the forum posts on tahiti-explorer.com. Seems to be an active board.

We ultimately traveled to Fiji tho.

It's very beautiful on average, but this is the most gorgeous spot I've ever been to:
