No Problem, At lease you did read your manual unlike a lot of other people.

You're probably right that they wanted not to confuse air divers. However the manual has all you need to understand the nitrox display and as a constantly learning diver you're better off using the nitrox display-- it will facilitate nitrox diving in the future.

some people think nitrox is dangereous and don't want to

as you probably took note, a lot of people don't read their manual
