Hi Divers,

Took the long hike to Dume Canyon after dark last Thursday night. My buddy and I were treated to a horde of crabs, the first two squid of the season, a group of thornbacks flipping another over presumably to mate, and a pair of nudis I had never seen before. The following shots are of Flabellina pricei:

GORGEOUS shots - and nothing more exciting than a new slug!

Excellent lighting on all of them, very soft and natural. Great shots!

Where at Dume did you go? Off westward beach, the pinnacles or Cliffside Dr.?

Buddy and I parked at the end of Westward. Harbor Patrol closes the lot after dark but parking is allowed outside the gate until midnight. Half mile hike one way in full gear to dive the submarine canyon. Worth it to compare the difference between a site like Redondo with traffic and Dume which has no after dark traffic. Anytime humans can be isolated from the equation, a deeper understanding of our impact on this environment is gained.

I also seriously dig the endorphine rush when I stop to rest.

Very nice! And I agree, that last one is just an amazing shot :D
