What local diving??? :depressed:

why would anyone dive with less than a few feet of visibility?

This was me on Sunday diving at 40 feet of seawater at half one in the afternoon:

Despite having incredibly low vis and pretty much total darkness me and my buddy both greatly enjoyed it, not being able to see far ive found makes you able to focus on the little things right in front of you that you might otherwise miss :D

Ok. I don't get it, but OK. I respect your opinion.

Well, because it's either that or you don't go diving.

AVERAGE vis = 6 feet
POOR vis = < 6 inches

Generally it's totally dark below 40 feet. I consider the visibility to be poor when I have to hold my gauge up to my mask to see how deep I am, or what direction I am going. Of course, when the vis is that poor you always have to keep a blocking hand out in front. It's touch contact at all times with your buddy, or better yet - solo diving.

I did one of my advanced OW dives in about 2' of vis'. It was a great confidence builder. Now I find myself less likely to freak out when a cloud goes over head
